Stop At: Obidos Village, Obidos Portugal

This beautiful medieval village is not to be missed and it's a fine example of a Portuguese walled town. There is lots to see here. We start at the Porta de Vila – the main gateway into the town and it's pretty deceptive, built to prevent cavalry from charging the gates! Then we walk down the Rua Direita - a bustling street lined with shops selling crafts and gift items. This is the main street of Obidos. We stop at Igreja de Santa Maria and Praca de Santa Maria - a beautiful religious building and the main church of Obidos, is positioned in a quaint and picturesque square.

Wander down Avenida da Republica promenade and admire Nazare Beach. It is a beautiful promenade alongside this wide bay of golden sands. Once a productive fishing town, you will enjoy cobbled streets, quaint buildings and still see many fishing traditions, including the wives of the fisherman still wearing traditional dress. A perfect place for lunch!

Accessed by the funicular. This century-old mode of public transport connects the centre of Nazare to the village, Sitio, on top of the hill. As you can imagine the views are amazing.
