Coimbra Tour starts from your hotel/Apartament in lisbon with the pick up which is complementary at 9:00 am
Our first stop will be Conimbriga and Visit the archaeological City of Conimbriga the ruins of Roman City. The Romans arrived in the second half of the 1st century B.C Conimbriga was a florescent village. Thanks to the peace established in Lusitania quick Romanization of the indigenous population was took place and Conimbriga became a prosperous town. You cannot miss a unique place on history.
After our next stop will be Coimbra City. First we will visit one of the oldest universities of the World , which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and discover one of the most magnificent Baroque library and unique atmosphere characterised by ancient traditions, such as the students black capes and the fado music of the students of Coimbra.
Take a journey through the busy streets of Coimbra being one of the most historical cities is a place of beautiful views and beautiful historical buildings on the hill side of the east bank of Mondego, a truly amazing and beautiful city, during the students season we can see the black cloaths traditional from the Coimbra students, the republicas( shared houses for students) and the coffes and bar´s filled with people.
Coimbra hides the legend of love and suffering and tells the tragic love story between the King Pedro I and the maid of honor D. Inês de Castro you will visit the place where D. Inês de Castro died - Quinta das Lagrimas.
Stop at St. Clara Church to see the tomb of Queen St. Isabel, protagonist of the “Miracle of the Roses.
