Stop At: Parco di Miramare, Viale Miramare, 34151, Trieste Italy

Our trip starts from Ljubljana at 8:30am in direction to the easternmost region of Italy, where we find a small strip of land that borders with Slovenia and it’s called Trieste.

We will take a walk through this charming Italian coast town, which due to its proximity to other nations and regions, has been influenced over the years by various other cultures and civilizations and also, for a while, the residence of the famous Irish writer, James Joyce.
We will start our walk at the iconic Trieste harbor and continue to the Piazza Unita italia, which is known as the largest square situated next to the sea in Europe. Several prestigious and important buildings line the square including the Town Hall, the Palazzo del Lloyd Triestino, the Palazzo del Governo and the Palazzo Pitteri – Each of which features a stunning design and beautiful architecture.
Local artisan ice cream or a freshly brewed cappuccino it’s a must when in Trieste and will also boost some energy into our walking experience.
We will then move to the most picturesque castle in this region of Italy – the Miramare castle. Created in the 19th century, the structure itself is immensely beautiful with white-washed walls and decorative crenelations. The grounds of the castle feature extensive gardens and woodland that you can explore.

After exploring Trieste we will move towards Slovene Adriatic coast with first stop in Piran.
This lovely colourful town is known for its long pier and grandiose Venetian architecture. Tartini Square is flanked by Gothic red Venetian house and the frescoed Tartini house, where the great violinist Giuseppe Tartini was born.
We will take a walk through this vibrant little town and ascend to the Cathedral hill.

We will take time for lunch and afterwards move to Salina Nature Park. These salt pans were formed more than 700 years ago and remain as the only salt pans still in operation in this part of the Adriatic, maintaining the traditional process of manual manufacture of salt.

From the coast we will take you to the inland Istria where you will witness it’s completely different facet. You will attend a guided tour of the top olive oil manufacture and a tasting of finest local olive oils.

In the evening our Istrian experience will culminate in a private visit to a genuine organically operated family wine estate. The cellar is situated on top of a hill, overlooking the Gulf of Piran and the unspoiled valley of the river Dragonja. Vineyards stretch along the Southern slopes of the Istrian hills at an altitude of 250 to 350m. All the wine production is manually done within the family with great attention and meticulous dedication and control of every moment of production.
