Your guide and driver will pick you up at approximately 8:30am from your resort and head toward the southern part of Lombok and Kuta Beach, one of the most famous beaches on the island.
The first encounter with the Sasak culture is the pottery village of Banyumulek Village. This village is one of the main pottery centers of Lombok, specializing in decorated pots and pots with fiber covering, as well as more traditional urns and flasks. When time permits, you can enjoy a short ride on one of the most traditional forms of transport found anywhere in the world, a horse and cart which, in the Sasak language is called Cidomo.
Weaving is found in Sukarare, south of Cakranegara. This is a village of traditional weavers and has been a part of Lombok’s Sasak culture for generations. The weaving style here has its own distinctive known for its brightly patterned luxury product traditionally worn during ceremonial occasions, called a Songket. The techniques, patterns and motifs have been handed down from generation to generation.
Standing out from the crowd is the village of Sade, a traditional Sasak village made up of a series of houses made from buffalo dung and mud. The local ladies in the village weave lovely cloth that can be used as scarves or home decoration. The people of Sade have their own traditions which may vary from other areas of the island.
Passing the unspoiled beach of Tanjung Aan Beach near Kuta beach, a stunning white sandy beaches in the south of the island and an area popular for surfers and backpackers who want to get off the beaten track. After you may enjoy a good lunch at a local Lombok restaurant.
Before bringing you back to your hotel, end the day of Sasak culture exploration with a visit to the Mayura water palace. This waterborne, open-sided hall is located in a beautiful artificial lake is a pilgrimage site for Hindus living on Lombok.
