We arrived at Victoria Station and had no idea where to meet. Guess we were expecting someone out in front with a sign or at least a person directing us. Had to ask a competing tour company if they had any idea where were meeting. When we got to Windsor Castle we got off the bus and were sorta turned loose. I knew it was self guides but guess we were expecting the guide to at least follow us to get our hearing pieces, which were very hard to work and follow. Buckingham Palace was much better all the way around.
This is the greatest scam of all. First, it is a long line to get in. You are not allowed to take pictures. I expected to find memorabilia of the Royal Family, e.g., pictures when they were young, rooms they used, toys, clothes, etc. It's like being conned into going to an art museum that does not even have any original masterpiece to show. The art pieces are from Prince Charles' collection of unknown artists that he supports. For the love of God and all that is Holy, people, do not go inside. You might as well go to the Louvre, Brisitish Museum, Prada in Spain, the Duomo in Florence or the Vatican for that matter!!!!
Such a quaint town and a beautiful castle! I can see why the queen thinks of it as her Home. Much more of personal feel than Buckingham Palace. And the grounds are gorgeous!Loved it a lot more than Buckingham palace..
Our Guide Dereck was very good at giving us the details of the day as far as timing. He was very knowledgeable as well.
Great opulent castles. But kinda crowded and un-guided. Oh, and no pictures allowed inside!!!
With my love of all things Royal imagine my delight when I discovered that Buckingham Palace was to be open whilst we were in the UK and that it was doubled up with Windsor was just the icing on the cake. Nothing I can say will convey the absolute brilliance of walking through the oldest inhabited Royal Palace in the world or the main London residence of Her Majesty. Windsor was incredible and to try and describe it would be pointless but I will say that the ice cream there was the best I have ever had. Similarly Buckingham Palace is simply breathtaking my only disappointment was that you couldn't take photos inside, which is understandable, but even that couldn't dampen the absolute thrill I got from being there. If you get the chance to see both then don't miss it. Bath in the glory of two of the most beautiful palaces/castles in the world.
Loved Windsor Palace and the town. Buckingham Palace was amazing and very happy to be in London when the Queen wasn't! My only criticism of this tour was the lack of communication by the tour guides. We were told to be at the bus by 12:30pm after visiting Windsor Castle. Therefore, most of us took precious time to eat lunch because we knew Buckingham would be next. When we arrived at Buckingham, the guide said we had 1 hour to eat lunch before our tour. That was 1 hour we could have used at Windsor Castle instead of eating. We were not able to finish seeing Windsor Castle and that was extremely disturbing. In addition, the guide took us to Buckingham, gave us our tickets, and left. She never said that we were on our own after that. Of course, we figured it out but customer service was lacking on this particular tour.
Excellent! Perfect opportunity to view and tour both palaces.
