The attractions were beautiful, most certainly. And we never would have seen these places on our own. The tour made it so easy and seamless. But what made this a fantastic day for our group was our tour guide, Deborah. She was not only incredibly knowledgeable, but also fun, hilarious, so very British, and all-around delightful. She made the trip over the top wonderful, and even though the day was rainy, it was our favorite part of our trip to the UK. I chose this excursion based on online reviews, so was a little nervous. But I would absolutely come back again to use Evan Evan’s tours, and have already recommended it to friends!
We've always been pleased when we've booked tours through Viator.com. But my tour yesterday was really amazing. Phil was our tour guide and he was so knowledgeable. He spent individual time en route with every passenger trying to get to know each of us! I'd never have expected that. Time slipped away from me twice on our stops and I was the last one back to the bus. He took it in stride and joked about. He had an outstanding personality. I wouldn't hesitate to use Viator again!
From the advertising of this tour, I had thought it was going to be mostly about Downton Abby and was very disappointed that it had very little to do with the program. The village was quaint, but not welcoming. The other town we visited was lovely and welcoming, but nothing to do with Downton. I wrongly thought that we were visiting the place used as the manor in the show, but obviously found out that it was in fact the Palace owned by the Churchill's. Although I was disappointed in the trip I did in fact enjoy the tour thanks to our very knowledgeable guide Sheila. She was happy, pleasant and used humor to convey the facts and history of the places we visited. 5 stars for Sheila.
Seeing the charming villages of Bampton and Bourton on the Water was so enjoyable. Blenheim Palace is amazing. I felt the pace of the trip was good and not too rushed. Our guide, Karen, was informative and friendly and provided good context for the sights. Our driver Laurie was also good. It was a nice day out of London.
My husband an his mother took this tour. He and I had just visited the Cotswolds a few weeks prior where we drove up. He said this was so much easier and less expensive. Here are his comments on the trip “It wasn’t smooth getting on the bus but the bus was very comfortable. The tour guide was a little snooty to start but he grew on us. He was very knowledgeable about the area. The tour was a nice cross section of the Cotswolds and lasted the right amount of time. Any longer and we would have been bored. The castle tour was excellent. As others have said the visits to the little towns was rushed but enough to give you a taste. It would have been nice to have refreshments on the bus.”
We were deeply disappointed with this kind of tour which had been our first one of the sort. All prejudices were confirmed: there is not enough time to take a look. We were dropped off at a lovely place but when 48 people are swimming that place there's no beauty to see. 20 mins later we had to be on the bus again. We spent hours on the bus and little time at places. We won't do such a tour again. Wasted. The guide Omar and drive Mo were lovely people.
Great trip. Very personable and informed guide and excellent driver. The villages were interesting and the Blenheim Castle and Winston Churchill exhibit was excellent. 5 stars
It was a great day trip starting from cozy houses of Cotswolds and ending in a beautiful Blenheim palace. Our guide Phil was helpful and knowledgeable. The trip itself is wisely planned giving you enough time to see the most.
Loved the tour but perhaps one less stop with more time at the castle would have been better. Visited London for business and took this trip to go out of town.
Everything we needed and nothing we didn't!
Wish it only went to Blenheim. Not enough time at any stops. Tour guide acted like she didn't want to be there.
A very interesting tour and the guide was very informative, plus had a great sense of humor. Blenheim was absolutely tremendous, the coach driver was the best.
What a lovely drive and every stop was a gem! The Downton Abbey Village is just a perfect spot for fans of the series. And Blenheim Palace and grounds are enormous and incredibly posh imagine what growing up or living there would have been like! The stories are ones to rival Downton Abbey or any work of fiction!
Fantastic tour, really enjoyed it!
A great day out of London. Our guide, Phil, was exceptionally entertaining and a fount of knowledge. Quoting statesmen and poets alike. While we are not huge Downtown Abbey fans, we really enjoyed the small village of Bampton and the peaceful church there. The Cotswolds are beautiful and Blenheim was so impressive. Highly recommend this tour for a day out of busy London. The coach was comfortable and the driver was amazing with his skills at maneuvering the bus!
