About this activity
Starting off at the world-famous Piccadilly Circus, we will embark on a journey of discovery and visit some the nation’s most important landmarks, buildings and monuments. As we walk, you’ll see the private club where Winston Churchill spent his evenings, learn about Napoleon and his nemesis the Duke of Wellington and see where the Grand Old Duke of York (from the famous nursery rhyme) used to frequent, too. Then it’s time to soak up some royal history as we pass St James’s Palace, where Prince William and Prince Harry and their mother Princess Diana all lived.
We will then press onwards to see the truly spectacular Buckingham Place to marvel at the home of the British monarchy and, hopefully, witness the Changing of the Guard (weather and public events permitting). As we meander through places of royal significance, your guide will regale with tales of the Queen, her late-night visitor (ooh!) and life and death tales of World War II. Explore the majesty of our stunning Royal Parks and find out about the crazy gifts bestowed upon the royals by fellow monarchs and world leaders.
Then we’ll see just how big Big Ben really is and pose for a picture with Winston Churchill himself, a worthy addition to your social media feeds if ever there was one! Next up, we’ll admire the Houses of Parliament through the eyes of some of the nation’s most famous rebels, such as Braveheart himself, William Wallace and Guy Fawkes. Then it’s onward to the Ministry of Defence, Household Cavalry and Downing Street where the Prime Minster lives, followed by a stop at iconic Trafalgar Square to hear the heroic and hilarious story of Admiral Nelson.
Your tour will end at a traditional English pub with a full English lunch — think fish and chips and pie and mash (vegetarian and other meals are also available), and a drink of your choice (beers, ales, wines, spirits and more!). Before you go, don’t forget to ask your local guide for tips of what else to see and do during your stay in London.
Please note: Changing of the Guard is subject to the weather conditions, special events and specific dates of operation. We cannot guarantee they will operate on your chosen tour day.
