About this activity
The Old Town Tour focuses its attention on the east of the city, heading out towards the old docklands and back through London town. This carefully chosen route gives you a local's knowledge of London’s power house.
Your journey starts from our offices in Lambeth, conveniently located a stone’s throw away from Lambeth North and Waterloo Underground stations. Setting off through the local streets, you’ll start things off with a ride to the old Bankside power station, now home to Tate Modern Art Gallery and the home of modern and contemporary art in Europe.
Next up you’ll cycle down the riverside to the New Globe Theatre, a beautiful, curvaceous replica of the unique Elizabethan theatre made famous by William Shakespeare.
Moving on down the river’s edge, you’ll arrive at Borough Market, one of London’s largest and oldest food markets, which offers a selection of the city's best street food and fresh local produce.
Then, provided there are no ships passing through, you’ll be off to cross the picture-postcard Tower Bridge, all the while taking in the spectacular London skyline with its iconic skyscrapers (the Gherkin, the Walkie Talkie and the Cheesegrater among them).
From there, it's a ride along the river to the old Dockyards, an atmospheric maze of warehouses and alleyways, including a quick stop at Captain Kidd, a waterside pub.
Starting to head back west to what used to be less affluent industrial land, you'll see how the area has been transformed into a destination for young designers and their businesses.
Then it's to the Square Mile, London’s financial district, where you’ll pass through a bedrock of institutions such as Lloyd’s of London, the Royal Exchange, and Mansion House, each a delight for architecture enthusiasts.
The final stop is Sir Christopher Wren's unrivalled masterpiece and one of the most stunning and recognisable monuments in London - St Paul's Cathedral. From here you’ll head back across Blackfriars Bridge, taking in the amazing views to the East and West of the city as you cross back over the River Thames.
From here it’s a relaxed ride back through the streets of South London back to Lambeth, where it all began; time to refuel and get ready for the next adventure!

Doug took our group on a fun and interesting tour of London. His wit and insight into history along with unique stories about the city made this an enjoyable morning. You can tell Doug is passionate about his city and wants to share that love with visitors. An added bonus to our tour was when Queen Elizabeth passed us in a motorcade! She even waved and acknowledged the cheers for her!
