A great tour for those who who appreciate the history of the area and want to spend time at both locations. The guide was wonderful as well as the bus driver, both had knowlege of the area and made us feel welcome and not rushed. We had lots of time in both locations but would have loved to have had even more. Avebury is well worth the visit as one can get up close to the stones. The small village within the circle was quaint with a pub, church and hostoric home, it was magical. A surprise visit to an ancient mount burial site was also included. Time provided for food and bsthroom breaks, facilities were good. The only downside would be for individuals with limited mobitlity as one is walking in pastures and up and down small hills, We had a group of abot 12 which was a perfect size as tere were never any delays.
Our guide (Mike) was very knowledgeable, but also very personable and funny. Warning as regards to Avebury: there is a very steep hill you'll need to climb to get the the first Avebury site. On an extremely hot day as it was when my tour happened, this was definitely a problem, though it was still worth it. I had been to Stonehenge previously, so on this visit, the highlight was definitely Avebury. Can't recommend it enough!
Went on a super wet and windy day in Feb but very educational and fun for the whole family. Liked Avebury more.
Tour guide was awesome. It was a small group so we all got to ask a lot of questions. At Avebury you can actually walk and touch the stones. Avebury has the only pub in the world inside a stone circle (The Red Lion). Stonehenge was magical.
Stonehenge and Avebury are amazing places to visit. I really enjoy Avebury. It is a lovely village and you can walk freely around the rocks, sheeps and in the village. I really enjoy that we have sufficient time to enjoy each sites.
