Stop At: Pak Ou Caves, Ban Pak-Ou 06000 Laos

Pak ou caves: One of the most respected holy sites in Lao; Pak Ou Caves have a history dating back thousands of years. Packed with over 4,000 Buddha icons, the caves, a shrine to the river spirit and Lord Buddha, are set in a dramatic limestone cliff at the point where the Mekong joins the Nam Ou River. There are two caves to visit, the lower cave called Tham Ting and the upper cave Tham Theung, both boasting miniature Buddhist figures that are mostly made from wood.

Ban Xang Hai, also known as “the Whiskey Village” is usually included on boat trips to Pak Ou Caves. During the rainy season, roughly from July to October, the Kuang Si waterfall is swollen with rainwater. The quantity of water will impress and you can bask in the spray and take in the scene and sound from the vantage point of a newly constructed and attractive bridge traversing the river

During the dry season, roughly from January to May, the Kuang Si waterfall is largely void of rainwater. What is left is a significant and beautiful flow of mineral-rich water flowing from a natural spring deep in the jungle
