Semi Private Toledo & Windmills Day Trip

Only one hour drive south from Madrid lies the beautiful and impressive city of Toledo, nicknamed the “Imperial City” and “The City of Three Cultures”. Our first glimpse of it will be from a panoramic viewpoint on the other side of the Tagus river valley that surrounds the hilly medieval town. We’ll spend the next two hours touring the historic city center on a public walking tour with a small group of up to 15 people and an official guide. On this 120 minutes visit (exteriors only) we’ll walk up and down the winding alleys of the city center, and get a broad understanding for the rich history of Toledo. If you wished to have your own private official guide it is necessary to book this day trip as a private tour. Following that tour we’ll have a delicious 3-course lunch to gather strength for the next part of the day. About 35 minutes drive south from Toledo is the “route of Don Quixote”, of which we are going to explore the typical Castilian windmills and the castle of Consuegra. Five hundred years ago Cervantes already wrote about those windmills: Don Quixote mistook them for giants and tried to fight them. Twelve of those original thirteen windmills have survived the passing of the Centuries, and four of them conserve the complete grinding mechanism. We will visit one of those mills and explore the interiors of the very well conserved 1000 year old castle of Consuegra. Fantastic photo opportunities are guaranteed of a very typically Spanish landscape. Throughout the day our chatty and energetic guide will not leave your side, and make sure that you are making the most of your time.
