About this activity
Make the most of your visit to Madrid and take this tour filled with art and culture. You will meet your guide at 8:30am to get to know one of the most memorable Royal Castles of Europe, the Royal Palace of Madrid, which used to be the official residence of the Spanish Royal Family. Nowadays, the palace is used exclusively for receptions, ceremonies and official events. The Royal Palace is also called Palacio de Oriente, due to its close proximity to “Plaza de Oriente” square, which is on the east (Oriental) side of the palace. It will take 1.5 hours to tour the palace. After a break for free time, you will meet up with your guide again at the Spanish National Art Museum at 5:15pm. At Prado, you will learn about the museum’s history as you walk around admiring its artwork and learn about the art of the artists from the hand of our expert guide. It will take 2 hours to tour the museum.

mixed. I did both of these tours last summer with my mother- and brought my son back for spring break. The Madrid Royal Palace was good- but she missed some interesting information. The Prado tour was a huge disappointment- it was in Spanish and English- so in order to keep the tour at its stated length- we missed painting and important information. We also had to waste time hearing both languages. I like Amigo tours- but HIGHLY RECOMMEND requisition the guide named Khan hopefully I spelled that correct. He was by far the best tour guide I had- and am sad my son didn't benefit from his knowledge.
Enjoyed this combo tour.. only thing I would change is that the Prado tour starts around 515pm and the museum closes at 8pm so you may not have much time to independently stroll the museum. The guide Bellen is excellent and will give great insight into the key masterpieces. The guide at the Palace is also very knowledgeable and it is worth seeing. If winter, dress warm for the palace because it is partially an outdoor tour and the rooms don't have the best heat even indoors. I would have preferred the Prado immediately after the palace tour...not sure why the structure is such that there is a break between the 2 tours. We visited Plaza Mayor which is nearby after the Palace. Be sure to see the Palace cathedral if it's open too.
