About this activity
Begin your small-group walking tour of Marrakech in Djemaa El-Fna, the bustling central square in the medina. Your local guide will lead you through the maze of souqs -- or markets -- and vendors and escort you through the confusing alleyways of the medina, the old part of Marrakech. Instead of having to worry about finding your way around, you'll be able to marvel at the many carpet shops, spice stalls and artisans you pass.
Your first stop is Bahia Palace (Palais de Bahia). Wander the numerous rooms and courtyards and admire the mosaics, woodwork and fountains as your guide shares tales of the sultans who once lived here with their wives, concubines and slaves.
Next, head back into the medina with your guide and stop at a local bakery. See how locals prepare their own bread at home but bring it here to be baked. You'll get to taste some of the delicious bread on offer before moving on to another spot in the medina where the traditional dish tanjia is prepared.
Continue your tour at the Photography Museum of Marrakech, which has a collection of 4,500 photos that offer a glimpse of life in Marrakech a century ago. Admire stirring portraits of locals, village scenes and images of the Berber tribes of the Atlas Mountains that will give you a better understanding of Marrakech's history and culture.
Finish your educational and exciting 4-hour walking tour of Marrakech back in Djemaa El-Fna, where your guide can give you directions back to your hotel or you can continue exploring the mesmerizing medina on your own.

We had the most amazing tour with Ali! I can't sing his praises enough. He was so knowledgeable, kind, and thoughtful in making little tweaks to personalize the tour based on our interests. Our day with Ali which was our first day in Marrakech! let us feeling more comfortable navigating the city on our own and helped us discover sites we never would have known about. His English is impeccable, and we had so much fun getting to know him and the city. Days later, we're still finding ourselves saying well, Ali said ___. Ali, thank you for such a fabulous introduction to your city!
My boyfriend and I did this tour and were so very happy with it overall - it was just the two of us plus our guide, Youssef Rouissi. He was incredibly knowledgable and nice, we couldn't have been happier. His English was impeccable - he studied at an American school in his youth and ultimately spent quite a few years in the US as an adult. On our walking tour we were very impressed and so very pleased with his knowledge and insight. He even let us take more time in some areas than originally planned for and took some photos for us. He also helped us with tips for some shops and restaurants. I would highly recommend this tour especially as a start to the city. Youssef helped us figure out where in the city we'd like to explore after our time together.
Had to cut it short due to illness but Abdul was a delightful and knowledgeable guide. Would recommend him for sure.
A good tour which unfortunately lasted too long. The tour was supposed to last 4 hours. Unfortunately one guest did not show, so we had to wait 45 minutes for her to turn up. Apparently she had not bothered to check the start time and so all of us who started on time we had to wait. I prefer tours which treat you like an adult. If you are late the tour starts without you. Consequently our tour took 5 hours which meant that we finally returned to the Djemaa El-Fna at 2 pm, footsore and hungry. As a diabetic this delay did not suit me. The tour itself was good. All the places visited were interesting and our guide provided much useful information. Book the tour by all means, but be assertive if you are asked to wait for a late comer.
