Is there a coffee farm tour close to Medellin that can be done in half a day?
Of course there is! And we designed it thinking of your needs and budget.
It is only 50 minutes away from El Poblado and though it is near Medellin, the scenery is absolutely different and spectacular.
The coffee you enjoy every day has taken a long journey before being in your cup.
With this coffee tour in Medellin you get to know this amazing journey in detail.
The coffee production stages you will see in this coffee tour in Medellin are:
• Planting
• Picking the ripe beans selectively
• Depulping
• Fermenting and washing
• Drying
• Threshing
• Roasting
• Grinding
• Packing
Coffee Tour in Medellin Description:
From your hotel we head to the coffee farm in our comfortable private car.
The road to get there is absolutely gorgeous, it is a protected forest full of pine trees and other endemic species from that region.
Some of our guests have actually said that the road alone is worth the whole price of the tour.
In addition to the road we are going through a typical small town of Antioquia, where you can appreciate how our farmers still transport the goods in their mules and horses.
Up to that point it has been already an authentic and unique experience and we haven't gotten to the farm yet!!
Once there, a charming married couple of farmers welcomes us with a delicious cup of coffee.
The major attraction in this coffee tour in Medellin is the coffee farmer´s family, they are passionate about what they do and keen to make you feel part of their family.
Our lovely hosts will serve us their highest quality coffee in 4 different brewing methods: V60, Chemex, French Press and Italian Press so you can compare and determine which method you like the most.
While you are enjoying a nice cup of coffee, the expert gives you an informative introduction into the world of Colombian coffee.
After this very entertaining introduction, we begin the walk around the coffee farm.
Hands-on Experience: Picking the Coffee Beans
We start by picking the beans ourselves as the farmer guides us in the process and provides tips about how they should be picked, how this task is done by women and men alike, wages, lifestyle and everything about coffee pickers.
The last process is packing the fresh coffee you just processed (which you can buy at the farm for a very good price).
What about a horseback riding to complement this coffee tour in Medellin?
A great optional alternative we are glad to offer you is to get on a horse and make an unforgettable ride with breathtaking views through our mountains.
We ride through streams, pine forests and wide open fields with unparalleled views.
