Stop At: Centro Historico Santa Fe de Antioquia, Santa Fe de Antioquia Colombia
Explore a well-preserved traditional city and get to know more about Colombian – and especially Antioquia’s – culture in combination with stunning views. Santa Fe de Antioquia is the region’s oldest settlement, founded in 1541, and known as one of the cities that gave shape to Colombia’s current towns and cities.
On your way from Medellín to Santa Fe de Antioquia you can use your time (approximately 1.5 hours) to relax and get to know the lush green environment, Antioquia has to offer.
Upon arriving at the main square, you’ll get the first impression of Antioquia’s former capital. There, you will go to The Juan Corral Museum and other colonial style houses, and churches passing through traditional cobblestone streets. Then, you will take a break to have a traditional lunch at a typical Colombian restaurant.
After lunch, you’ll hop back on the car to be driven to the Puente de Occidente (Bridge of the West), a suspension bridge located in the Western region of Antioquia. The bridge was considered the seventh largest suspension bridge in the world and was declared a National Monument of Colombia later in 1978. You will experience the Puente de Occidente in two ways: first, you’ll have a look at it from afar; and second, you’ll capture magnificent panoramas of the surrounding scenery while walking above the immensity of the Cauca River.
Duration: 4 hours
