A replica of a traditional small Antioquian town, where we admire the typical large whitewashed houses decorated with beautifully painted doors as well as a traditional church and city hall.

We also get to enjoy an incredible view, as Nutibara Hill is the perfect place to look over Medellín.

On your way to the city center, you’ll walk through the tree-lined avenues of Laureles neighborhood an area that offers a large variety of restaurants and food courts. If you like, you’ll stay there for a while and try a typical Colombian dish (at your own expense).

Stop At: Plaza Botero, Medellin Colombia
Your next stop will be at Plaza Botero, right in the center of Medellín, where you will discover the unique style of Fernando Botero, one of Colombia´s most famous artists. As you look at the proportionally exaggerated sculptures, you will learn about Botero’s sense of humor and irony.

We will also get the chance to admire the world’s largest collection of his paintings in the adjacent Museum of Antioquia and can also have a look at pre-Hispanic, Colonial, Contemporary art, and much more.

Then you will walk to Berrío Square, considered the heart of the city. Located in the middle of the square you will see the Statue of Pedro Justo Berrío, who was once the governor of Antioquia and an important politician for Medellín and Colombia.

After walking this little “rambla” for some minutes, you will go to Plaza de Bolívar, a place that holds the breathtaking Cathedral of Medellin where local tango singers folk together.

This is one of the strategic places that make Medellín a city known for its social innovation.

Afterward, you’ll board the Metrocable and ascend to the top of the mountain to visit the Santo Domingo Library. You will have a look of three modern black buildings, and you will go to see how this ‘library park’ achieving social transformation through education. This project helped to make the area safer and attractive to a wider range of people. Thanks to this project, and many others, Medellín was awarded in 2013 as the ‘Most Innovative City in the World.’
