I love to travel and have taken a lot of tours over the years. This is honestly my favorite. City Vibes Tours just got everything right: interesting content, well run, no pressure to buy from their vendors, no wasted time, and a great tour guide. I didn’t have time to take three or four separate tours so I picked this one because it covered Pablo Escobar, Comuna 13, graffiti, and cool views of the city. This worked much better than separate tours since it told a complete, cohesive story from the more dark history of the 70’s and 80’s up to the really uplifting current rebirth of the city. My main interest was the history of Pablo Escobar so I was surprised at how interesting all the other parts were. There was no time during the entire tour where I was bored or wanted to skip things (which is rare for me). What really made the tour was my tour guide, Jean Carlos. I agree with all the great things others have said about him in reviews here. His tours are like your friend from Medellin is showing you around his city that he is very knowledgeable about and proud of. This just made things so much more fun and relaxing than those other tours where they are just reciting a bunch of memorized facts for the thousandth time. His passion for the city and his job are obvious. An important tip, book this tour as one of the first things you do in Medellin. I made the mistake of putting it at the end of my stay. Based on what I learned on this tour and my overall experience I was eager to do one of their other tours but was out of time. I guess it’s a good reason for me to visit Colombia again.
Carlos was amazing with the depth of historical knowledge of Comuna 13. He shared how much has changed in the area with continuous improvement. The people are humble and the walls are an artistic/ photographer dream. The Pablo Escobar tour did not glorify however shed light how a person influenced a city. The tour is an absolute must!
