Founded with the name of Antioquia on December 4, 1541 by Marshal Jorge Robledo in the Ebéjico Valley, located south of the town of Peque. The current Santa Fe de Antioquia is located in the western subregion of the department and was located at a distance of 79 km from Medellín (before the opening in 2006 of the current tunnel of the West Fernando Gómez Martínez, for which this distance was reduced to only 55 km, decreasing travel time by more than one hour).
