About this activity
On this private tour of Memphis, you'll explore everything Elvis in a classic 1950's car that will allow you to step back in time. Each tour is conducted by a local Beale Street entertainer who will share insight into Elvis' life and career in Memphis. Hitting various neighborhoods, you'll see one of the very first homes of the Presley's, favorite local hangouts, recording studios, concert venues, and more.

Your tour starts on Beale Street in the heart of Memphis. You'll see the Lansky Brothers building where Elvis shopped, and the location of the 'Home of the Blues' record shop where his first records were sold.

Continue through Downtown Memphis, where Elvis lived in the days before stardom. See the Chisca Hotel, home of WHBQ, where the first Elvis record was played on the air. Cruise by Jim's Barber shop where Elvis perfected the famous haircut, the Loew's State Theatre where he worked as a young man, and The Peabody Hotel- site of his high school prom. 

Continue on to the Lauderdale Courts where Elvis lived as a teenager, and the American Studios where he recorded in 1969. See Humes High School from which he graduated, and Plastic Products where his first records were pressed. Complete your time Downtown with a visit to Crowne Electric, where Elvis worked as a truck driver, and a drive past the fields where he played football.

Your tour continues through Midtown, where you'll visit the Sears Crosstown Priscilla visited to outfit Graceland. Swing by Donald's Furniture where Elvis purchased Graceland's furniture, and the Crosstown Theatre he often rented out. Visit the home of Scotty Moore, Elvis' first guitar player, and University Cleaner's where they rehearsed as a band.

After Midtown visit Overton Park, one of the most beautiful spaces in Memphis, which hosted Elvis' first concert in 1954. Take some time here for pictures and the opportunity to stand on stage where Elvis stood. Drive past Kang Rhee Institute of Self Defense where he practiced karate in the 1970's, and the Memphian- his favorite theatre. 

Ending the tour you will also visit the Immaculate Conception where Pricilla attended high school, the First Assembly of God church where the Presley's attended service and also Stax Studio where Elvis recorded in 1973. Then off to Supercycles location where Elvis bought his motorcycles.

The trip wouldn't be complete without a stop at Sun Records, where Elvis' first records were made. Visit Southern Motors where Elvis bought his Cadillacs, and then complete your tour at the Hard Rock Cafe.
