In the morning meet your guide at your accommodation in Mexico City and head to Centro Ceremonial Otomí. On the way enjoy mountainous beauty of the surrounding "Cumbres Sierra Nevada" National Park and stop at a beautiful Iturbide Lake where you can do zip-lining and horse riding.

Then we will arrive at Centro Ceremonial Otomí which is an architectural ensemble of pre-Hispanic inspiration that has terraces at different levels, stairways, sculptures, squares, murals, the Otomí Culture Museum; the whole set seeks to preserve the traditions and culture of this town that has refused to become extinct.

After exploring the center and learning about Otomi culture & traditions, go to a nearby ecological park where you can see trout-production and visit original temazcal. The practice of visiting this traditional sweat lodge has been carried out for centuries for hygienic as well as for therapeutic and ritual purposes. The temazcalli (temaz-steam, calli-house) represents for Otomi and other Mesoamerican people perfect place for this journey of purification within mother earth.

In the afternoon, cleansed and energized by a temazcal ceremony, we will go try pulque - a traditional Mesoamerican fermented drink made of maguey sap and consumed by the local population for centuries. After an optional lunch of local Otomi delicacies, we will go to San Pedro Abajo - a center of the local tapestry industry famous for the craftsmanship of magnificent hand-knotted carpets, appreciated all over the world for the extraordinariness of their fantastic designs and the coloring of the dyed virgin wool printed by the indigenous hands. There we will visit a workshop a local Cooperative Society of Hand Knotted Rugs made up by local Otomi women that have been creating fine woolen garments for centuries. Here you will be able not only to watch the work of local creative geniuses by also to learn the secrets of their craftsmanship.

Stop At: Temoaya Mex, 50850 State of Mexico, Mexico
We will finish our day in a small town of Temoaya, the center of the same-named municipality, where we will walk down its cobbled streets and visit its main square with the church consecrated to local patron saint Santo Santiago. After a full day of discoveries, we will return to our vehicle where you can relax on the way back to your accommodation in Mexico City.
