Once the only licensed prehispanic market in the city due to its proximity to water supply, the San Juan Market is today a gastronomic hub where Mexico’s diversity converges. San Juan is the starting point of this tour as you get acquainted with one of the most outstanding gastronomic cultures in the world. Mosquito eggs, grasshoppers and iguana meat can be purchased next to sushi rice, spanish tapas and falafel.

After shopping for fresh ingredients, you will navigate a downtown hub to witness how Mexico’s history is no less diverse. Spaniards, Chinese, Arabs and Jews are some of the communities that have settled in downtown Mexico, shaping the gastronomic, social, and architectural landscape.
