My tour to the Shrine was excellent in every way. Jocelyn was very knowledgeable about all topics concerning the origins and history of the story of Juan Diego and the Virgin of Guadalupe. More than that, she was a great teacher on many other topics of Mexican history and cultures, past and present. She was eager to respond to all questions I had, and her explanations encouraged me to do more research and study on many issues. Plus, it was a delight to have her as my guide. Thank you for a great afternoon.
the transportation good!, the guide so so... Nothing additional of what I read previously.
We really lucked out with our tour. We, a couple, were the only persons scheduled the day we went. As a result our guide was able to provide us superb attention and did so. It was more like having a conversation, than a tour with all our questions being answered. We were surprised at the immensity of the facilities associated with Our Lady of Guadalupe and the multiple churches on the grounds. There is much more to see than you would expect. It is also beautifully landscaped. There is a plaza that reminded me of Tiananmen Square in size. In December as many as 6 million people have come to this place. Our guide was a young woman and she was wonderful, with excellent English skills. This is an easy tour with time going back and forth and attending a service in the basilica. One note, the climb to the original chapel is at the top of Tepeyac hill and does require some moderate exertion, but it is well maintained stairs and offers beautiful views. There are cheaper ways to see this site, but I feel we received superb service left at 3 p and returned around 6:30, I believe, and overall certainly received our 24 U.S. worth. This is one of those tours that really depends on one's interest in the site, but as one of the most visited religious pilgrimage sites in the world, certainly worth considering. No regrets here. Missed it on my last trip to Mexico City many years ago and wasn't going to this time. Fotos are allowed everywhere except the original chapel.
Luckily it's only me and my wife! guide is awesome! even gave us a chance to attend Sunday mass!
Our tour guide was quite knowledgeable and personable. I was a bit hesitant about going on this tour due to being an atheist but the beauty and history of the shrine can be appreciated regardless of the beliefs you hold. take the tour!
