About this activity
Start the tour in front of the entrance to the stunning Santa Maria delle Grazie church on Piazza Santa Maria delle Grazie, 2. Our professional, English-speaking guide will meet you here and lead you into the building and provide an introduction of the work to give some context.
Spend 15 minutes viewing ‘The Last Supper,’ which has held up through several centuries and survived neglect, weather damage, and WWII bombing. Learn from the guide why Leonardo’s painting is considered one of the finest in the world, full of lighting contrast and dramatic depictions of biblical figures.
After viewing the painting, meet back up with our tour guide to learn more about its history and why it’s considered such an important cultural symbol. Then take time to explore the Santa Maria delle Grazie Church (if possible ), complete with its own unique history as a place of worship for 15th-century dukes. Learn about the apses, refectory, cloister, and other unique architectural details, and spend time relaxing in the garden courtyard.

We chose the guided tour by default, because there was no other way to gain admission to the chapel. We were very pleasantly surprised. Our guide used wireless devices to speak to us, so we were free to move about as she spoke. She was extremely knowledgeable and gave a comprehensive, eye-opening description of the site before we entered the chapel. After we entered the chapel, she allowed a silent period for us to enjoy the painting. Overall, this was a wonderful experience which was greatly enhanced by our tour guide
The guide was extremely knowledgeable and group size worked well for tour! Well worth it!! I highly recommend this tour while visiting Milan
Clearly not a professional tour company. No one contacted us with a tour time, Viator were no help, ended up missing the guided tour as the only contact was an italian mobile. Operator was rude and left us with tickets for the wrong time. Overly disappointed and will never use Viator again!
I'd definitely recommend this tour - the guide was great with excellent knowledge. I learned so much about this painting and it's history than I would have if I had tried to do this independently. Well worth the extra cost - and book ahead.
Well worth the expenditure. Our guide not only gave us an education on the Last Supper, but gave us a brief history lesson on Milan--we really enjoyed it!
Excellent guide. Well worth the extra money to have someone knowledgeable to guide you through this exhibit and answer your questions. He was very good and friendly too. Suggest you bring your own ear buds. The ones they give you don't fit well and are one size for all. They worked, but a good set of ear buds would have worked better and would have stayed put.
