About this activity
Visit: Abbaye du Mont-Saint-Michel, Bp 22 Au sommet du village, 50170 Mont-Saint-Michel France

Take the opportunity to visit the Abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel, whose construction started during the 10th century and which represented one of the main Christian pilgrimage sites from the 8th century to the 18th century. Observe its diverse architectural influences from West Roman empire, Roman and Gothic styles.

The Abbey is composed of typical clerical and military buildings including the Abbey church, the cloister, the refectory, the monks' ambulatory and the gardens known since the 12th century as the "Merveille" - Marvel. The monument became a symbol of French national identity after resisting the attack of the English army during the 14th and 15th century and was officially listed as a historic monument in 1874. Thanks to a continuous restoration work, the site could get back to its former glory.

In summer, the Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey is best seen in all its splendor after sunset during the Night poetic route (not taking place Sundays)

We didn't really need or use it. We went to MSM on a Monday in Sept and arrived at the abbey after the parking and the shuttle bus at 10:30. We followed Rick Steves suggestion and went to the left of the main gate, under gendarme sign and up the stairs, no line, went right in and up the back way and no folks there at all. If we had run into lines it might have come in handy, not sure

Had a fantastic time exploring Mont Saint Michel and the Abbey. Could be more disabled accessible. Definitely worth the trip

Getting the tickets ahead of time was great! We stayed overnight at one of the hotels and was able to be first in line the next morning. And with our tickets in hand, we went straight in while most of the crowd had to purchase their ticket (very long line). The abby was amazing with so much to see inside.

Skip the line is not needed if you arrive early enough. We arrived at 9:30am and didn’t have any issues with getting in and was less crowded

Mont Saint Michel is awesome and everyone should plan to see it. However, not sure you need skip the line tickets. We went on Monday, Sept. 17 and went straight to the abbey. You still have to wait for the audio devises. It was getting crowded when we left so I would advise to arrive early to avoid the crowds

We didn't need this extra ticket to jump the lines. There were no crowds and it was Easter. So not really useful.

Nice visit to this medieval landmark on the Normandy coast. It will rank as one of the most beautiful sights to behold.

We were so glad we bought the Skip the Line Mont Saint Michel tickets online before we left the USA. There was a line to walk up to the abbey, but we breezed ahead of everyone and were brought over to a roped off section to begin our walk up to the Abbey. We loved walking around the entire village built on Mont St. Michel and were awed at the gravity defying construction of the abbey on the top of the island. Mont St. Michel is truly a splendorous wonder! Buy the skip the line tickets so you don't waste time looking for the kiosk to buy the tickets or wind up waiting on line to buy the tickets.

Stunning and a fascinating history. The abbey lives up to expectation and it was good to go on an off peak day in an off peak season- cold, though!

This ticke t got us to the head of the line only. It did that. We enjoyed the Abby! No tour guide was involved.
