About this activity
Start your day with pick you up from your Montego Bay hotel. You will be greeted with a friendly smile from your tour guide and driver who will escort you in comfort and style to The Black River Safari and YS Falls. The team will guarantee on-time pick up, clean and safe transportation on some of the best vehicles on the island and personalized, hands-on attention. This tour provides scenic beauty off the beaten path, across the mountains and hills of the South Coast. The first stop will be at the Black River for a safari through the home of Jamaica's crocodiles and other wetland wildlife.
During the Black River Safari you will discover the beauty of the South Coast with a 1.5 hour boat tour up Jamaica's largest navigable river and through what is Jamaica's largest wetland area. The encounter takes you six miles up the river, during which a running commentary will be given by your captain/tour guide on both the ecology and history of the area. Over 100 species of birds have been recorded in the Black River morass and many can be seen during your trip. The endangered American Crocodile inhabits the area and sightings are very frequent. Your guides will assure up close views and feeding of these endangered crocodiles. The wetland vegetation is of special interest with three species of mangrove, thatch palms, and royal palms. A not-to-be-forgotten experience!
Enjoy sumptuous, mouth watering Jamaica "juci patties" for lunch.
Next you will head off to YS Falls. YS Falls, a 120-foot (36-meter) cascading waterfall amid 2,000 acres of pasture is located on a privately owned estate, owned by the same family for over a century and where thoroughbred race horses and purebred Jamaica Red cattle are reared. The falls, unlike the Dunn's River Falls, are unspoiled and kept in a natural environment friendly state, the only modifications made are the footpaths along the falls and natural swimming pool. Enjoy walking through and swimming in the falls while local guides help take pictures for gear memories.
After this full day of enjoyment, relax as you are returned you to your Montego Bay hotel.
