The Novodevichy Monastery was one of the monasteries-fortresses of the southern defensive belt that defended Moscow from enemy raids. Walls and towers altogether are a full-fledged fortress, built on the model of the Kremlin. Women from the royal family or noble boyars were nuns of the monastery.
The architectural ensemble of the monastery is stunningly beautiful: the white and red lace of Moscow baroque is reflected in the smooth surface of the pond. There is always a desire after the excursion to stop, breathe deeply and feel: "Here is the Russian spirit and the scent of Old Russia".
