The incredible dance show presents Russian traditional performance art in the most exquisite form. The program includes lyrical sketches with elements of Russian folklore and ancient epic. The show also reflects the spirit of pre-revolutionary imperial Russia and other periods Russia’s history. This spectacular show gives an insight into the traditions, culture and history of the country. The program includes a mix of traditional national dance and contemporary ballet choreography. The cast consists of more than 50 dancers. During the performance they wear 300 unique costumes decorated with pearls, silver and gold all especially designed and hand-decorated especially for the show. This is one of Russia’s most famous stage shows.

Our guide met us in the lobby and was surprised we weren't told we would be walking and travelling by metro to go to this show. As it was celebration time being Moscow's 870th birthday the streets and metro were packed. Our guide was very strict with us to keep close to her. She was an excellent guide and took her job very seriously. She walked/trained us to the theatre and was very happy to accompany us to the performance. The show was outstanding, costumes were brilliant, dancing and choreography were spectacular. This show was predominately dancing with very little dialogue and singing but was well supported by the music. The theatre was custom built for the show in an interesting and modern venue. A bonus was we were able to purchase a video of the show to bring home. We booked this tour because the opera and the ballet were in summer recess and we were not disappointed in the least. Unfortunately one of us had a bad fall returning to the hotel. We had to walk very slowly so took a long time. Our guide I don't know her name was very caring and stayed with us the entire time.
