So, you get a chance to enjoy the view of the Hotel Taj.
From Gateway of India, you will board the ferry boat to reach to Elephanta Island, an hour-long ferry ride provides a good introduction to Hinduism.
In the Elephanta Island, the boat will leave you at the pier/jetty that is at the north of the island. The Elephanta cave is a kilometers' stroll from the wharf. There is a little toy train from the pier/jetty to the base of the hill. You may stroll along the dock. This will prompt the passageway to the Gharapuri village. There is a security entryway and a village entry fee to be paid. Further you have to trek the 120 steps to the level where the caves are located. This trek way experiences a pressed doodads, guidebooks, souvenir and Shirt selling stalls. The ticket counter for the caves is situated at the end of this path.
Upon entering the caves, an enormous hall upheld by a large pillar and a vast "Mahesamurti" statue will welcome you. This exceptional, three-headed Shiva sculpture is the main fascination of this island. Different sculptures of Lord Shiva, in the 'Shiva Nataraja' and "Ardhanarishvara" structures, can be seen here. The whole cave complex is around 60,000 sq. feet and is made out of natural rock. In case you are hoping to capture excellent pictures with the Arabian Sea in the back drop, head out of the caves and you will happen to see the amazingly beautiful Elephant- shaped rock structure. Those wishing to laze around and absorb the nature can spend the night investigating the island with an aide or stroll up the Cannon hill or simply unwind on the shoreline.
After completing your Elephanta tour, you will need to get back to your ferry boat at 1330 to travel back to India gate. On reaching the harbor, the chauffeur will drive you back to your hotel.
