Day Trip on the Romantic Road to Neuschwanstein Castle and Rothenburg from Munich
Your day-trip along the Romantic Road starts by meeting your guide at the Munich Train Station at 7:15am. From here, you will board a comfortable coach bus and disembark toward Neuschwanstein Castle. After about 2 hours traveling the German countryside, you will arrive at your first stop. You can either make your way to the ticket office to purchase access to the castle (additional 14€) or spend your time enjoying views from the exterior while taking plenty of pictures of the lake, gorge and equally beautiful Hohenschwangau Castle. The tour inside the castle takes only 30 minutes and you will be guided around and told stories about the reclusive Bavarian king who commissioned this residence in the 19th century.
After an enjoyable 3 hours, it's time to continue your journey on the Romantic Road and spend time in the most perfectly preserved medieval town in Europe: Rothenburg ob der Tauber (approx. 2.5 hour drive). Spend about 3.5 hours exploring this town, learning its history, and marveling at the architectural beauty it has to offer. As this is a great place to shop, you may decide to wander and shop. It is the only place where you can buy Christmas products all year round. You may also stop and eat a meal (not included).
If you would like, you can join the guided walking tour your guide has to offer. In the evening, you will return to the coach and head back to Munich (approx. 2.5 hours). This tour involves a considerable amount of walking and is therefore not recommended for those who find walking difficult for extended periods of time.
