Seaspray Day Adventure
1 day
About this activity
This 15m yacht offers stable and comfortable cruising to maximise your onboard comfort and enjoyment. This activity offers a maximum of 30 guests per day.
You will visit the uninhabited island of Modriki, used in the movie Castaway with Tom Hanks, and have time to explore the long stretches of white sandy beach, laze in the sun or snorkel in the lagoons. On the island of Yanuya, you'll meet the locals, be welcomed with a traditional Kava ceremony and experience every day life in a Fijian village.
There’s nothing like a day at sea to give you a big appetite. Morning and afternoon tea will be served, plus a delicious barbecue lunch, including unlimited beer, wine and soft drinks while aboard.
The yacht sails directly from Mana Island. Transfers to and from Denarau and surrounding islands on board a fast catamaran are included.
Important information on Cultural Awareness
Please note: When visiting villages, as a mark of respect hats are not to be worn in the village, as it is customary that only the Chief of the village is allowed to wear a hat. Women are encouraged to dress modestly and cover their knees.

Again this trip managed to give us some respite from the bad weather and other cancelled trips. You go from Port Denaru or other island pickups along the way - fast catamaran. You then transfer to the Seaspray... quick load up of provisions and a safety brief and away you go. Crew playing guitar and dishing out drinks and snacks along the way. Two island stops, with free time and snorkelling - one being where Castaway was filmed. We had less numbers on our trip, so space on the boat was better. You can sit at the rear of the boat, with some shade, but limited stretch out and a bit clustered for us. We sat towards the front and had the opportunity to stretch out on the deck or benches - I would imagine being unable to do this would make it less comfortable. We had a great time, loads of good food, beer and wine - made easier by a great crew, less people and no rude people.
I think this would have been a better day for us had the boat not been so overloaded with people. The Seaspray is not that big kind of reminded me of Humphrey Bogart's African Queen, and with that many people on the boat well over 20 plus crew, it was difficult to move around without asking five other people to let you by. We loved Modriki, and lunch was pretty good as well. The seas got too rough for us to go to the village, so the crew did the kava ceremony on-board. In order for us to get back to Mana Island, the captain had to detach the tender so it wouldn't crash into the Seaspray one poor crew member had to handle the waves in the tender, and the trip back put new meaning into the term Seaspray in that we were basically soaked for about 90 minutes as the sea mist came over the boat. With calmer seas and fewer people on board, I think we would have enjoyed the trip much better.
Well organised day, great crew and yummy BBQ lunch and good snorkelling, just not sure the cultural visit to the island with kava ceremony was worthwhile
