Stop At: Pompeii - Archaeological Area., Porta Marina Superiore (Via Villa dei Misteri) Piazza Immacolata, Piazza Porta Marina inf., 80045 Pompeii Italy
Pompeii is simply a miracle: the most incredible gift the Mt Vesuvius could ever give us. It was buried under 20 ft of soft volcanic debris. This left the ground levels basically intact. Most my guests do no expect it to be so big and well preserved. We will check the Forum, the Bath House, the Theatre. But - even more interesting - we will visit their private homes, the streets, the shops. We will learn about daily life in Ancient Rome. We will feel the presence of the ancient pompeians, feel their struggle for life, their virtues and vices, just normal people like all of us!
Duration: 3 hours
Stop At: Parco Acheologico di Ercolano, Corsa Resina, 80056 Ercolano Italy
Herculaneum suffered the same destiny as Pompeii, but it is located closer to the volcano. Therefore nearly 60 ft. of hard volcanic couch still covers the Ancient Town. That has preserved even remains of carbonized organics, such as doors, windonws, shelves and...a boat! Not-to-miss is the walk down the Marina, where we will suddenly have the terrific vision of many skeletons found there.
Duration: 2 hours
Stop At: Vesuvius National Park, Via Palazzo del Principe, 80044 Ottaviano Italy
In bewteen the two walking tours we are going to take a short ride on the slopes of Mt Vesuvius. We will have lunch at a wine farm located within the boundaries of the National Park. We are going to enjoy the warm wellcome of this family run winery, we will visit the vineyard, we will have a pre set lunch tasting all of the local wine production. All that enjoying beautiful views of Capri and Sorrento on the Bay of Naples.

We went on this trip in early July 19 and it was simply fantastic. Fabrizio picked us up from our hotel and the day went from there. At 9am, no Queing, we went straight into Pompei and covered the areas that Fabrizio has learned over time are most enjoyable for a 12 and 9 year old. He made the visit fun with kid's activities including stickers and quizzes and they listened for the full 3 hours, which is testament to Fabrizio's technique. Following that, a delicious lunch on a farm on the side of Mount Vesuvias and a little bit of downtime. Then, an easy transfer to Herculaneum and learning more about the Roman empire from a slightly different perspective and arguably more interesting. We found learning about both Pompei and Heculaneum in the same day helped put everything into wider context from two different towns experiencing the same natural catastrophe. This day was made vary enjoyable and interesting by Fabrizio, who has a wealth of knowledge having worked as guide over many years. He knew all the tricks (don't sit in the long Queues for the men's bathhouse when the women's bathhouse 20 metres away is empty but has all the same construct etc). The local knowledge was invaluable. This is the way to do this trip and ensure maximum bang for your buck. Well done Fabrizio and thank you!
