About this activity
The city of Pompeii and Herculaneum have been partly destroyed by the Vesuvius eruption of the 79AD. The buried city seemed to be lost and forgotten, but now you are given the chance to walk into the streets on the original pavement, enter the shops and the houses, challenge the acoustics of the theatres, visit the Baths following your path up till the Forum – the main square – where all the political, social, artistic and religious aspects of the Ancient Herculaneum life used to melt.
Among the main features of this city you will find the magnificence of the frescoes and mosaics, and the original wooden structure of the houses, still standing. You will literally jump back into the past.
After this incredible 2.5 hours tour you will be driven to the National Park of the Vesuvius - where you will join a group - and an expert guide will explain you all the geological phenomena happening right under your feet. Then you will be let climb the volcano up to the crater, where you will enjoy one of the most suggestive and astonishing views of the Naples Gulf and landscape. This walk will take you more or less 1.5 hours.
Moreover, you will not be asked to wait in queue, but our guides will allow you to skip the line and have immediate access to the sites. Get ready for this amazing and unbeatable experience!

We were picked up by our driver, who expertly navigated us thru the streets of naples to Herculaneum, where we were met by one of the best guides ever--Lallo was enthusiastic, energetic, entertaining, and supremely knowledgeable. He took us into the runs and made us feel the life in the historic town, as well as the horror of the day in 79AD. We were informed, entertained, and enthusiastic for more. Bravo, Lallo. And then we were driven to the second part of the tour, where we ascended the final slope of the dormant volcano, Vesuvius. It was pretty gritty and hot and sunny, but my 79 yo mom and I made it to the top in about 45 minutes, enjoying the view of the crater, and the view of the Naples Bay on the other side of the trail. We then stopped at a local restaurant for excellent food, but terrible service.
