About this activity
This tour will take you to a 30 miles scenic road along the Costiera Sorrentina and Amalfitana, also known as the ”light blue ribbon” (Nastro Azzurro) or simply Amalfi drive. Built in 1832 by the bourbons, this road hasn’t changed much ever since. It runs along the Lattari Mountains coastline, passing by a number of small villages nestled in the rocks and considered amongst the prettiest in the Mediterranean, such as Positano, Praiano, Conca dei Marini and Furore. Inhabited since the VI century BC by the Greeks and previously by local indigenous people, this area reached its golden age with the rise of the Maritime Republic of Amalfi in early Middle Age, a major independent city-state. Today, tourism, fishing and farming are the main source of income for locals. The most popular products are: the Limoncello liqueur; the colorful ceramic art-crafts from the traditional school of Vietri; the inlaid wood art in Sorrento and the famous Carta d’Amalfi, an exclusive type of paper made out of cloths (linen, cotton and hemp). All these items are sold by the many shops available in Sorrento and Amalfi.
During the road trip, the driver will stop one or two times to the nicest spots to let you enjoy the view and take pictures. Both in Sorrento and Amalfi you will have some time on your own to stroll around and do your favorite activities, such as shopping, or simply relax to your favorite place. Lunch break to a local restaurant along the way. Positano will be seen from the top, for it would take a few hours just to visit this village, located at the bottom of the hill and only accessible on foot.
The return drive will follow a different route, giving you the chance of seeing the lavish green of those mountains before reaching the highway to Napoli. In some occasions, to avoid getting stuck in traffic jam, the tour can be carried out the other way round, starting from Amalfi and back to Sorrento.

Carmela the bus driver was very capable especially on such challenging roads from Sorrento to Amalfi, thank you for such great driving. Angela was the tour guide, she was very knowledgeable, approachable and friendly. The tour was great - a good mixture of stopping to admire the fabulous views and places along the coast, and knowledge and information about the area. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a tour with these ladies again
Viator online booking system does not work properly. It seems to me that one must book the tour by phone call, which is not practical.
I thought this was a good tour, knowledgeable, got to see amalfi and sorrento but drove thru positano. I could be wrong on the city since it's been a while since I wrote this review. It was either positano or sorrento. We definitely saw amalfi and lne other city. So the tour really shouldn't include that city. You drive thru it and talk about. When you have that in the name you think you would get time there but you dont. So I didnt care for that.
This was an amazing tour. The tour guide was knowledgeable and the group was fun. Amalfi coast was stunning and I hope to go back someday. Thank you for a wonderful time.
A little bit of riding, but the views along the Amalfi coast were breathtaking. We had short tours in each of the cities and some free time to explore and shop on our own. Our lunch was excellent and included in the tour. We also visited the plant where they produce Lemoncello. Great day
The morning pickup was very disorganized and the tour guide unenthusiastic about her job. She gave very little but the bare minimum of commentary or description of the places was visited. The saving grace was the spectacular scenery of the Amalfi coast. I would recommend trying a different tour.
Loved this tour! The only thing that would have been better if we had a bit larger of a van or less people in the van though since the roads are pretty windy and would have been nice to just have a bit more personal space. Our tour guide was a great driver and stopped at a few more stops than we had planned and made the tour that much more fun and exciting. REALLY enjoyed it!
