About this activity
Your tour will start from Jama Masjid, the biggest mosque of Asia with marvelous architecture, built by Emperor Shah Jahan. After, stroll down the lanes of Old Delhi. Helter skelter alleys of Chandni Chowk market, which is probably the oldest market of the city is an adventurous stop. Old havelis, mansions and shops will transfer you back in Mughal Era.

After completing this tour of Old Delhi, you will visit the Red Ford. Constructed by the 5th Mughal emperor Shah Jahan as the palace of his fortified capital Shahjahanabad, Red Fort is named for its massive enclosing walls of red sandstone and is adjacent to the older Salimgarh Fort, built by Islam Shah Suri in 1546. The imperial apartments consist of a row of pavilions, connected by a water channel known as the Stream of Paradise. The fort complex is considered to represent the zenith of Mughal creativity under Shah Jahan and although the palace was planned according to Islamic prototypes, each pavilion contains architectural elements typical of Mughal buildings that reflect a fusion of Timurid and Persian traditions. The Red Fort’s innovative architectural style, including its garden design, influenced later buildings and gardens in Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Kashmir, Braj, Rohilkhand and elsewhere. While moving through the fort and listening to the stories about the emperor and his empire, you will feel back in the 17th century yourself.

Then, you will move to a completely diverse side of Old Delhi - Lutyen’s Delhi and pass through India Gate, Presidential Residence and Secretariats. Visit the Dormitory of Mughals. The complex encompasses the main tomb of the Emperor Humayun, which houses the graves of Bega Begum herself, Hamida Begum, and also Dara Shikoh, great-great-grandson of Humayun and son of the later Emperor Shah Jahan, as well as numerous other subsequent Mughals. It represented a leap in Mughal architecture, and together with its accomplished Charbagh garden, typical of Persian gardens, but never seen before in India, it set a precedent for subsequent Mughal architecture. Here, you will listen to the stories of beginning of Mughal Era and how the Great Mughal Dynasty ended.

Then, you will stop for a lunch at a local restaurant. Your last stop after lunch will be Qutub Minar, the tallest minaret in the world. You will witness an amalgamation of architecture and beauty inside Qutub complex and will go back in the times of Slave Dynasty.
