This 2-hour swamp tour of New Orleans starts with pickup from your downtown hotel. After a 35-minute drive by air-conditioned van, you'll arrive at your destination. Meet your airboat captain and settle into your seat on the 16-passenger vessel, then prepare for a wild ride into the swamp.
Powered by a 454 Chevy engine and propelled by huge fans, the airboat travels at speeds up to 25 miles per hour (40 kph). The captain performs exhilarating high-speed maneuvers, cruises at gentle speeds, and makes plenty of photo stops while narrating on the wildlife and local flora. I had been apprehensive about taking this tour, partly because of the alligators, but mostly because I envisioned the swamp to be mosquito infested, slimy, generally gross. But “when in Rome”. So I took my chances. Oh my goodness. That was sooo much fun! The swamp was gorgeous, serene, almost mystical with Spanish moss hanging from the trees. We would cruise peacefully for a bit, then WOW we moved full speed ahead. I’m not going to spoil the wonderful surprises you’ll experience along the way, but truly there are memories I’ll never forget. Captain Kenny was so much fun. If I get back to New Orleans, I would definitely book this tour again!
We had a great time with our tour guide Ernie. He was very informative on the ride. Stopping every so often so we can take photos and also giving us many interesting facts! Definitely would do it again. Perfect amount of time!
Lots of fun. My husband was able to pet a very large alligator and we both held tiny newborns...simply wonderful.
Captain Ernie gave us an excellent tour of the swamps and a great understanding of alligator habitat and the surrounding ecology. You can tell he really cares about them.
What an awesome experience. Marty, our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the swamps and the surrounding wetlands. We learned so many new things and even got to hold a baby alligator.
Started out with rain but within a few min. it was gone and the ride was great. We got up close to the friends of the water. would recommend the 16 rider boat. Cheaper and you still see what everyone else does.
Fantastic, well worth doing.
Do it. That is all I have to say. I would do it again and again 100 times over.
