This was just OK. You can't get into the cemetery without a guide, so if you want to go to the cemetery, you have to do a tour. I found the tour to be very long and boring. We started out in Jackson Square and walked to the cemetery which is a very long walk from there. Instead of walking straight to the cemetery for the tour, our tour guide took us everywhere but there. Finally, after 1 hour and 20 minutes, we arrived at the cemetery. Then we had to hurry through it to be done in 2 hours.
DANIEL OUR TOUR GUIDE WAS FANTASTIC, VERY EDUCATED, INTERESTING, GREAT PERSONALITY, HE MADE THE TOUR THE BEST ONE.
Karen was awesome! Great tour and great information about the city and St. Louis.
Our guide met us at the meeting spot near Jackson Square. She arrived on time, and the other people who signed up for the tour never showed. We waited for them for about 10 min. which gave us time to walk around the square a bit. The upside was that we got a private tour. We finally got going, and we started the 7 or 8 block walk to the cemetery. I'm not exactly sure why we had to walk such a long way, and why we didn't meet at the cemetery. My best guess is that the tour co. has to pay for the time at the cemetery, and this walk reduced our time at the actual venue. We did have the opportunity to stop on the way and ask questions about New Orleans and sites we encountered. Our guide was very articulate and educated, and she had a passion for the city and its history. We finally got to the cemetery, and the information we received was very interesting. The downside was that we spent very little time in the cemetery itself and the guide cut our tour short by 1/2 hr. We paid for a 2 hour tour of the cemetery and we were only in the actual site for about a 1/2 hr. I didn't understand why she ended the tour abruptly at 12:30 when we paid for 11 am to 1 pm. I would have given her a substantial tip because the guide was quite intelligent and well-informed, but I was disappointed and felt ripped off when the tour ended so early. If I pay 100 of the price, I don't expect 75 of the service.
