Stop At: Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, 419 Decatur St, New Orleans, LA 70130-1035
Drive-out approximately 30 miles (48 km) to the embarkation point of your airboat from your New Orleans hotel. Depending on the option you selected, board a large airboat holding 15 to 25 passengers or a small airboat limited to six to eight passengers for a more intimate, personalized experience.
Set out on a 20,000-acre (8,095-hectare) tract of tidewater cypress swamp close to the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. Your flat-bottomed airboat is powered by an aircraft propeller to allow a fast, fluid trip through the shallow marshes. Feel the wind on your face as you zip into bayous lined with mossy cypress and tupelo-gum trees and your pilot points out a stunning variety of wildlife.
Prepare to see plenty of alligators in the warmer months (and warmer days in winter), some of which may be out sunning themselves on rocks! Your guide may even feed the gators, affording you amazing photo opportunities. Also keep your eyes open for turtles, snakes, egrets, herons and ibis. You may even catch sight of a hawk, owl or bald eagle. In the cooler months, look for white-tailed deer, raccoons and the large rodents known as nutria.
Your morning or afternoon airboat tour ends at the embarkation point. Be sure to check out the indoor exhibits of alligators — including an albino alligator — before making your way back to downtown New Orleans on your own.
Note: This tour does not include hotel pick-up or drop-off unless hotel pickup and drop-off is selected at checkout. If you have selected hotel pickup and drop-off please specify your hotel details in the 'special requirements' field at the time of checkout or advise the local operator directly after booking.

Absolutely worth the price, I booked the larger tour, saw a bunch of gators and learned a lot about the area! Larry was a great guide and had a surprise fiend for us to meet half way through the tour. This was the highlight of my stay in NOLA and I would recommend it to anyone
Very close to the downtown and French quarter area, but still out in a cool and historic area of Lafitte. Other tours we have been on take extremely long time to get out to, so this was much appreciated! All of the airboats were super cool and the captains were fantastic. So much wildlife to see and we saw and incredible amount of alligators! The captain's to the great job of feeding them a little bit while giving you wonderful knowledge about the reptile, you can see and hear the passion of what they do. Would and always will recommend this place over any other gator/swamp tours to anybody visiting!
No kidding. T. Earle is the real deal. You want to see alligators up close. You will. You want to learn about the bayou. You will. Very well done in every regard. Thanks. Eric
We thoroughly enjoyed the ride...fun and informative! Greg was a terrific guide very knowledgeable and fun! A great experience for all!
My sister and I took the airboat tour with Captain Dylan. It was a great ride and he was very knowledgeable. He made a point to help us get some good pics and got some of those alligators to come very close. Thank you for a great time!
We absolutely loved listening to Steve tell us all about the gators and the Bayou life. The ride was exciting and safe and we got to watch him feed some of the regulars. Got great up close photos of the gators!
This tour was very entertaining. I had so much fun and our tour guide “T Earl” was the best. He was funny and full of information. We saw a bunch of alligators. I highly recommend this!
We were picked up right on time. Got out to the site quickly and not too far from the City. The staging was new and clean. Very organized considering it was crowded. They got us on our Airboat and our captain was very knowledgeable about the area and wildlife. Amazing-the alligator came when he was called!. We went on a small Airboat and zipped through the canals. People in our van were on the bigger boat and they enjoyed it too so whichever one you decide on they make it a great ride. Definitely recommend this company.
I enjoyed this tour from start to finish. From the bus ride out where David, spoke about all sorts of unique features including the absolute worst place to get flat and how low the land is compared to the river level. Which is terrifying in some respects. Our airboat captain Earl, did an excellent job of showcasing the swamp, its beauty and wildlife. And his passion for the land and the creatures that live there is obvious. He let us hold a little gator and he kissed a wild gator. Clearly the man loves his job and is a tad bit crazy. Seriously, this is worth the heat, this is like going back in time a couple hundred years ago.
Great trip and extremely well organised tour. Fun locally born guide who made the whole experience enjoyable.
Fun time, great guides and saw lots of gators. Had 2 small boats for 9 of us. It was a little windy but guides keep our rides enjoyable.
The weather would not let us be great!! We had an excellent guide, Jay, who made sure we had a good time and was very informative. We were on the large boat, but I think you will be able to see more on the smaller boat. I recommend taking the ride in the warmer months so you can see more animals. According to Jay, most animals are trying to find a warm place and don't come out.
Our swamp was an amazing experience! The guide was very knowledgable and gave lots of great info. We got to handle a baby alligator as well as saw lots of wildlife and plant life. Well worth every penny.
We booked a small boat and couldn’t have been more excited to do so. Seeing everyone crammed into the large boat made us feel quite fortunate to have such a personal experience. Being a small boat was so much more agile and exciting and up close and personal. We probably saw at least 20 gators and several turtles. We were told that October was about as late as you want to go on this experience since the animals are starting to prep for winter. Overall this is an amazing experience and one that you should not pass up if you have the opportunity and time to do so.
We arrived to an albino alligator when checking in, which my girls loved. The captain was amazing and gave not only a tour but education on the geography, history and ecology of the bayou area. It was a short 30-40 minute ride from New Orleans and SO worth the trip!!!
