Stop At: French Quarter, New Orleans, LA
Embark on your exploration of New Orleans’ cocktail culture from the Gray Line Lighthouse Ticket Office, right on the Mississippi River in the city’s French Quarter. Your group of like-minded 21-and-up revelers will travel the neighborhood’s historic streets, ducking in and out of watering holes and restaurants in buildings that still stand as beautiful examples of French and Spanish Colonial Architecture.
While it’s easy to get lost in the history of your surroundings, the real stars of the tour are the cocktails. Listen in as your guides reveal the stories behind each inventive libation and the characters that brought them to life. Learn the origins of Southern Comfort, a liqueur invented in New Orleans in 1874, and the even older story of the Sazerac, which dates back to 1850. Sample any of your favorites by purchasing a glass.
You’ll also get an inside peek into the city’s oldest restaurant and its wine cellar and private dining rooms, where some of New Orleans' most important wheelings and dealings took place. Drink in the spirit of New Orleans by enjoying this 2.5-hour tour at the beginning of your visit to the Big Easy to pinpoint the stops you must revisit, or use it as an unexpected way to bid adieu to a city that’s as rich in stories as it is in drinks to share them over. It's history—with a twist!

This cocktail tour isn’t a “party” tour. It is a history tour that also introduces you to the origins of certain cocktails. We learned a lot of interesting facts about NOLA that we didn’t know...and we have been to NOLA several times. Donna, our tour guide, was a walking history book and answered any questions we had. We had a cocktail at every stop! We would recommend this tour
Sean was a fantastic guide! We went to small, uncrowded bars off the normal beaten path in the French Quarter. His knowledge of the Quarter and the cocktails created there was fantastic!! We had a great time!
We had a great time, Brian our guide was very knowledgeable and very friendly. He walked us through the histories of each cocktail. Would definitely recommend.
Guide (Joe) very friendly, knows the history behind every cocktails and every places se visited. If you love history and cocktails, this tour us formation you!
Brian, our tour guide, had a fantastic knowledge of the area history and bars. His love for New Orleans and connection with each bar and restaurant we visited was apparent, and we appreciated his respect for operations of each location as we (a 15 person group) made our way to each destination. While we drank at every location, it was very optional, and this would be an amazing tour even without the delicious beverages. We plan on attending the tour again when we are in town in the hopes of visiting other locations!
Or tour guide Joe was extremely knowledgeable and showed us the oldest restaurant in New Orleans, as well as 4 unique drinks to New Orleans
Joe was excellent. Got much more out of this tour than a pub crawl. He knew the cities history and gave us background on each place he took us. The cocktails were different and there’s no pressure to purchase. Enjoyable!
A lot of history and some great drinks. The guide was a kick. Sign up and go, you will have a great time.
Nothing beats this tour when the guide says - be careful of how many drinks and how much you taste.. you might just end up drunk by the time the tour ends... Lovely cocktails.. lovely bars... and the best guide to show it all around!!! High-five!
This tour well surpassed my expectation. Our guide reminded me of Betty White. She was funny and full of great stories. This was so much more that a cocktail walking tour. At each stop she had stories to share about the establishments history, what they are known for from way back and now, all presented in a fun way. This was totally worth the time and price.
This tour im afraid I will only rate a 1. The tour guide was very difficult to understand. The places we stopped on the tour were very beautiful, however if you wanted to buy a drink at each place, or drinks they were 10.00 each. My husband and I were expecting to get a sampling of each drink of New Orleans and then have the option to buy but that was not the case. This tour unlike any other food or cocktail tour did not provide anything except walking. In total this tour cost us 50 and could have cost up to probably 100 in drinks that we may or may not have liked. I do not recommend this tour, look for one, and they are out there in New Orleans that gives you samplings.
