Stop At: Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, 419 Decatur St, New Orleans, LA 70130-1035
Your day begins as when you arrive at the departure location in Marrero, a 35 minute drive outside of New Orleans. You will be introduced to your captain and briefed quickly on procedure inside of the Airboat. Once everyone in the group is prepared to take off you captain will rev the engine.
This particular airport is powered by a 454 Chevy Engine that's capable of accelerating to speeds as high as 35 miles per hour. The boat is propelled by a large fan behind the boat which can deliver wind speeds of over 200 miles per hour. This tour is fast and loud!
Your tour guide will bring you from location to location around the swamp and make frequent stops for you to have encounters with the wildlife. Chances are you'll probably have some reptilian visitors. The alligators have no problems making their way to the side of the boat and showing off for the visitors. After the tour of the swamp is complete you will be returned to the original departure location to make your way back to New Orleans.

What a great experience and tour guide. Super fun, easy day. We saw lots of gators and our guide was extremely knowledgeable and informative. My daughter said this was the best thing we’ve done since being in NOLA!
It was a great trip with a great guide and we saw dozens on alligators. Go early or late as gators submerge during the hot hours if the day. The problem was that we purchased the small group air boat tour because it was “ limited to only 6 passengers”. We were put on a boat with 9 passengers and a maximum of 13. The tour also says it lasts 2 hours but we were back at the dock 90 minutes after we left. I would book the same tour if I had it to do all over again but I would appreciate more honesty in the tour details.
We had a blast! Saw tons of gators and our guide Larry was very knowledgeable. He threw marshmallows and chicken out for the gators and they came right up to the boat. Got to hold a baby too!
Great tour! Lots of excitement on the air boat going through the marshes but also very educational on how important the area is.
