This guided Brooklyn Bridge tour will take you on a scenic stroll across the bridge and into the classic neighborhood of DUMBO (whose naming is quite the story). Traveling with a local guide, you’ll learn how truly incredible this construction is; from the submerged airlocks engineers used to lay underwater foundations, to the special design of its ropes. Looking at photos from construction, it’s striking how advanced these techniques were for the time - not to mention the genius marketing devised to convince New Yorkers to cross it. Your guide will meet you near City Hall for an introduction to the history of the Brooklyn Bridge. Then you’ll leave the city behind as we cross the East River and take in spectacular views of both Manhattan and Brooklyn. Each stone in the bridge tells its own story, and your guide will stop in places you would otherwise miss to give you the most interesting anecdotes from its 136-year history. On the other side of the bridge, he’ll show you around DUMBO, Brooklyn’s most exclusive neighborhood.
