Across the harbor we'll see the Statue of Liberty, a gift from the people of France to the people of the United States and commemorated in the year 1886. It quickly became the symbol of freedom and liberty to the millions of immigrants alive to America to begin new lives.

We'll also see across the harbor Ellis Island which was the gateway for over 12 million immigrants to the United States from 1892 until 1954.

Stop At: SeaGlass Carousel at The Battery, 75 Battery Pl, New York City, NY 10280-1500
Battery Park is named for the artillery batteries that were positioned there in the city's early years to protect the settlement behind them. We'll see several monuments as well as Castle Clinton, a former battery built for the War of 1812.

Stop At: Brookfield Place, 230 Vesey St Between West Street and North End Avenue, New York City, NY 10281-1027
We'll run through Brookfield Place and see very dramatic views of One World Trade Center which replaced the original North Tower which was destroyed on 9/11.

We'll share paths with the locals runners as we run through Hudson River Park. The views of the Hudson River and New York City skylines are unforgettable.

Once a 19th century market place, the Meatpacking District is now home to the Whitney Museum of American Art, high-end designer retailers, trendy restaurants and a stretch of the High Line, an elevated park built atop former railroad tracks.
