Arrived at 10am after a 4 mile, hour drive to parking garage. Battery Park we were told was the opposite way . arrived at pier 11:30am . We saw 3 NY water taxis cruise around the corner. 12:50pm one taxi picked us up. Ticket information said food and beverage for sale, not a thing was on board. Air conditioning did work below.
Great way to get around New York City and see everything!
I really enjoyed the tour. Unfortunately I took the last time slot so there was no time for hop-on and hop-off at certain destination. I'll have to do this again.
I booked this tour for a family day trip. Most of us had already been to/lived in NYC but never really explored. The hop on/hop off cruise was perfect! We were able to get away from the busy streets and take in the skyline...get to Brooklyn - where we had never visited and parts of Manhattan - without the aggravating traffic. The only thing I would change would to make the boats go faster haha! There are guides on top and below deck giving you a history - but we honestly weren't paying attention, but if you're into that, sit close! The boat does not stop at Ellis Island but gives you a chance to take a photo op which was nice.
walk to the pier from 40th street, I thought since the pier is at 39th street I could walk towards 39th, but that was a mistake coming from 8th Ave, you have to go around the Javits Center so avoid going down there. But, once on the boat its great. You'll wait for it inside a lobby in the pier, there are snacks to purchase and a rest room. the tour guide is very informative, great views of the statue, and other historic landmarks. I went with my mom and brother's family. My mom loved it so much she wants to do it again. The price for me, mom, and my 2 kids was around 94. I'd do it again anytime anyone is visiting. Get there early to get a good seat on the boat double decker type, seating upstairs and downstairs.
The staff were friendly and did a good job of getting us on and off the boat quickly and safely! The only issue we encountered was we were lined up to leave and were told we had to wait for another while the boat that was unloading had a mechanical issue so we had to wait for another boat, it was fine.....you provided a very fun day
I suspected there wasn't much exciting about this boat trip -- and I was correct. The atmosphere and 'insightful' information by boat guides was entirely overplayed in the reviews that were posted. But most importantly the poor attention to schedule times and long waits overshadowed any positives. Initial boarding was delayed nearly an hour throwing off our itinerary. The guides failed to make clear how quickly the boat makes stops -- so we missed our first stop as we were readying ourselves when we should have been already on lower deck near the door. We learned but next stop we had to walk a lot longer to 9/11 memorial. Brooklyn Bridge stop was boring, statue photo ops goofy, boat crowed and uncomfortable... Butt again most upsetting was extremely long wait for final pickup boat. All in all shoddy operation. Only upshot was free bus ride to central park after ordeal was over. Do your visitors a favor -skip it.
