About this activity
This tour starts with free hotel pickups from central Panama City hotels at 8:00am, then head north to Chagres National Park. Once you arrive at Puerto Corotu on the banks of Lake Alajuela, the Embera will be waiting to take the group up the Chagres River aboard their version of a dugout canoe. The group will visit a beautiful waterfall before you're brought to the village where your hosts will be waiting. Witness a presentation about their culture along with a traditional dance. Afterward, you will have the opportunity to walk around and explore the village.
A light lunch of fried fish, plantains and fresh fruit will be prepared by your hosts. You will then have opportunities to buy handicrafts and receive traditional "tattoos" which will fade away after a few days. It will then be time to load back into the canoe for your return to Panama City and to be dropped back off at your hotel.

Wonderful, 'off the beaten path' tour! Fun and informative, beautiful scenery and fascinating insight into the Embera people! Highly recommend! Our second tour with this company - we would have booked more if time had allowed!
Hearing about the local culture was the highlight, although it has to be difficult for the people to give up their natural life style just because the area became a national park and their ways of life were outlawed. The dance performance, introduction, chance to see a kitchen, lunch, craft sale, buildings, and boat ride to get to the village made the day extra special.
The best guide on this tour. I can just recommend it.
