From Panama city this tour is the easiest and economic way to visit the Caribbean coast of Panama and simultaneously visit and know the rich history of Portobelo in Colon. First we will pick you up in your hotel in Panama City to ride 1 hour to Sabanitas Colon, to stop at the grosery store to give you the opportunity to buy food and drinks.

Stop At: Portobelo National Park, Colon Panama
After stop at Sabanita, we will drive 45 minutes to Portobelo was founded in 1597 and it was protected by four forts during the golden age of the town, but due to multiple attacks that underwent the Spanish galleons when leaving the bay of Portobelo the Spanish crown took the decision to suspend the trips towards the Isthmus which caused the ruin of Portobelo.

Stop At: Puerto Lindo, Puerto Lindo, Colon Province
After a visit to the town of Portobelo you will move to Puerto Lindo to embark on a 10-minutes boat ride to a beautiful and secluded island named Mamey near to Isla Grande where you will be able to enjoy its warm and crystalline waters. Once there, you will have between 2 - 3 hours to relax and swim in the clear water.

Afterwards, you will be taken back to your hotel in Panama City. The bus ride takes 2 hours approx.

This was a great tour, I took it with my sister and a friend and we had a blast. Mario and Juliette were the best guides and gave us a whole historical and cultural background explanation for us to know better about the place we were heading to, and for us to have a better knowledge of Panama in general. They helped us through out everything and gave us advice on other things for our time in Panama, as we were staying for the WYD. We highly recommend the tour if you want to go to the beach. The Portobelo fortress is stunning and the beach is really nice. It is the best best way to visit Colon safely and to go to a Caribbean beach. Even though the weather wasn't the best, we were still able to swim for a while and we got to see many fish.
If you only have time to do one or a few tours while in Panama, this is the tour that you should go on. You get to journey to the Caribbean coast and visit a wonderful UNESCO heritage site and hear about the area's fascinating history. But the highlight will be the trip to the nearby Caribbean island. During my stay in Panama, it was the first time that I experienced sunshine and no rain!, the water was clear and warm, and the view was breathtaking. And Mario is a great guide who is willing to answer any questions that you may have.
The tour was great, Mario was the best guide and really made the trip worth while, it was not only fun but we learned a lot about the history of panama. I would do the trip every time I came to panama it was that great. I recommend it to anyone visiting panama
