Isla Grande was beautiful and we had a great time on the island. The food was also great( don’t get it from the hotel though) My group also loved going to see the Black Christ in Portobello. We walked around the town and toured the Old fort of portobello. That was the good. The bad...we waited for our driver at the hotel and only after texting him did he then come into to hotel to tell us that he was there but that we had to wait for our van. We had to wait 45 minutes for the driver to show up. We then boarded and traveled to the province of Colon to board the boat. However, our guide Cesar was quite during the ride and did not narrate anything while we traveled to the town. A group member called him out on this and he seemed unbothered by it. We got to the town and were given life jackets that were old, tattered and ill fitting for most people!! Getting off the boat was difficult as it pulled up to the beach and you had to climb out. We had several seniors on board and it was difficult for them to get off. The island while beautiful had plastic chairs for you to sit on. If you were lucky to get an Adirondack chair you were ok. At the end of the day we could not shower off or use the bathroom as there was no water on the island. To get back on the boat they had us use the rickety dock that had a steep drop into the boat!! The island and food were the best things about this tour.
