Wonderful trip. I enjoyed everything including making new friends. I loved the jeep ride and the guide was super friendly and helpful.
Views were great but the guide was sub-par. There was very little to no narration from our guide. There were other groups from this same tour operator on the same safari who made several stops and clearly their guide was narrating details to them. It was a disappointment.
The tour was nice but way too long. Should have booked the half-day tour.
The view of the island is beautifull and interesting. However, we never really learned much else regarding information and I was slightly disappointed in the guide.
First, take plenty of bug spray. The trip was much more rough going than we thought. At the start the guide was not that helpful as I asked him what were we likely to see, his response was trees, really informative ? Anyway, he got a bit better with information to the point we could not shut him up, but with his french/tahitian accent it was hard to understand much of what he said. The trip was 9 hours, scenery quite spectacular, but this trip is not for the faint heated as some of the inclines were 21degrees and quite slippery. The humidity was also quite high, so if you sweat a lot take a towel, which you will need if you elect to swim at the swim spot and also take some reef shoes or something you dont mind getting wet. The trip is actually far too long, but it takes quite a time to travel the distance. The trip information gives no advice about lunch, it is not included, so we packed some sandwiches expecting the worst. Lunch was a stop at a rundown hotel on top of the mountains. Thus, you could buy some lunch. They had set up a table for our group, but as we had our sandwiches they advised we could sit at this table to eat our sandwiches but we had to pay 400 franks each to sit at the table. We told them to shove it and walked to the other side of the hotel and sat at an outdoor setting with great views and ate our sandwiche with somewhat of a sour taste in our mouths. When are these people ever going to learn about hospitality. Would we do it again, yes for the scenery, but no for everything else. BW Sydney Australia
