So glad we did this tour as it was definitely a bucket list for us. Jozef picked us up from our hotel and all along the way to Normandy, was extremely informative about all things history. It was cold and blustery, so he was kind enough to give us choices of how we wanted to go about our tour. The stops along the way were great too, which included lunch at a cute cafe and a stop to visit where Calvados is made. We happened to be there during the start of the Yellow Vest Protests and I'm pretty glad he was there to explain just what was going on and why. Overall, he's the kind of guy you'd want for a friend, just to sit down and absorb the wealth of knowledge he has to offer! If we ever go back to France, I'd love to find him for any other tours he has to offer!
From the minute Joe picked the 6 of us at our hotel (he was actually there early), we had a fantastic narrated tour of the Normandy D-Day beaches and surrounding area. The drive itself took about 3 hours but we were very comfortable in his very roomy van and were treated to various tidbits about France and its culture and traditions, daily life, and the history of the area we were visiting. Once we arrived at the beaches and the American cemetery, the amount of detail he provided was amazing. And it was all presented in an easy, relaxed tone that made us understand and appreciate why this area is so important not just to Americans but to all who value the sacrifices that were made for our freedom. A special bonus was the restaurant where he took us for lunch. It was nestled in a beautiful French village and featured fresh seafood cooked to order, accompanied by a complimentary glass of a homemade liqueur. A definite 5-star experience.
Josef gave a great tour of the American sectors of D-Day at Normandy. It was a challenging day with temperatures in the low 30s, snow, rain and wind but his energy never flagged and we completed the entire tour. He had a detailed knowledge of the sites and relevant history. This tour is a long day but it never dragged and we had good conversations on the ride to and from Paris.
