Private Catacombs Tour in Paris

Enjoy this 2.5-hour guided tour through more than a kilometer of tunnels beneath the Paris streets. Meet your guide at 10:45am at your Paris hotel and take public transportation (at your own expense) to the Catacombs, or meet your guide at the entrance to the Catacombs.
Skip the lines upon arrival and follow your guide as you learn the often disturbing history behind the Catacombs. Hear about why the former limestone quarries, mined to build some of the city's most famous buildings, came to be used as the final resting place for many Parisians. 
Begin the tour descending a narrow spiral staircase nearly 200 steps below the streets, where you will have a brief introduction before you head through the cool corridors lines with skulls and bones. Discover how millions of bodies were exhumed from Paris' overcrowded cemeteries in the 1700s, and then stacked one on top of the other deep underneath the streets of Paris.
Many of the rooms are now closed to the general public, like the Décures sculptures, the Sacellum Crypt and and Gilbert's tomb. However, with this private tour you will have more access to the tombs. Whenever possible, you'll get to visit parts of the tombs not accessible to the general public. This tour will end around 1:15pm at the exit to the Catacombs. Please note: Entrance fees are not included and the touring portion of the activity usually takes approximately 90 minutes with the remaining time devoted to arriving at the tombs from your residence.
