About this activity
Spend a full day at two very picturesque locations. Your tour will start with a car journey to Giverny, the small town where famous impressionist painter Claude Monet (1840-1926) lived for the last forty years of his life.
Claude Monet transformed his property into an extraordinary world of colors: the flower garden with its hundred of species and the water lily pond and a marvelous Japanese garden where he painted several versions.
Visit the house where the artist lived, his studio, his bedroom overlooking the garden, and his beautiful collection of Japanese "estampes".
The second part of the day will take you straight to Versailles, where you will first make a stop for lunch (and wine) in a French restaurant (if option chosen) or one hour of free time before heading to the majestic palace where the Royal Court of Louis XIV settled in 1682, before Louis XV and then Louis XVI made it their home until the events of the French Revolution. A stroll in the gardens designed by André Lenôtre will conclude this immersion into French history and culture.
Your Audiopen (your interactive audioguide) will lead you through the King's State Apartment, The Hall of Mirrors, The Queen's Apartment, and the French gardens.
If you take the option of going during the Musical Shows you will enjoy classical music and fountains in full display, rendering your experience even more magical.
Musical & Fountains Shows:
Dates of musical gardens: On Tuesdays, from March 29th to May 17th and from July 5th to October 25th.
Dates of musical fountains: On Saturdays, and Sundays from March 26th to October 30th. On Tuesdays, from May 24th to June 28th and May 5th/July 14th/August 15th
Attention: Audioguide only available for Versailles, not Giverny

DO NOT do this tour in a group, I beg you! Especially if you are truly interested in these locations and don't want to be tied down. Our guide was knowledgeable and very pleasant. We had more than adequate time at each location and the place he chose for us for lunch was quite good with very pleasant and accommodating staff. I wish I could remember his name, but I am writing this review months later.
