Stop At: The Paris Catacombs, 1 Avenue du Colonel Henri Rol-Tanguy, 75014 Paris France
Explore the hidden world beneath the streets of Paris, on this VIP small group tour of the Catacombs. Follow your guide more than 20 meters below street level, into the shadowy and fascinating world known as ‘The Empire of Death’ - invisible to the locals and visitors strolling the famous boulevards above.
Fans of the film As Above so Below will recognize these never-ending, gloomy galleries. The Catacombs extend for more than 200 miles beneath the city, and are home to the bones of over 6 million former Parisians. Their remains were moved here more than 200 years ago, as city center cemeteries overflowed, the open graves and unearthed corpses spreading disease (and some horror stories!) throughout the surrounding neighborhoods. With your small group of no more than 7 people, wander through endless tunnels stacked with neat rows of millions of bones, accompanied by your expert guide, who will also unlock gates closed to the general public and lead you into obscure rooms full of surprises. Legend has it that the Man in the Iron Mask is buried here, along with those guillotined during the French Revolution, and even some of their executioners.
This small group tour will allow you to get the most out of this exceptional visit, allowing you to bypass the crowds and spend more time enjoying this unique and fragile site. Learn the intriguing tales of those who worked, visited and have been laid to rest here over the centuries, including some who ventured in and never came out again. Hear stories of secret societies that still visit today. Past and present Paris and its inhabitants come to life as you explore the city’s gloomy entrails concealed below the surface.

Tour guide very knowledgeable. Catacombs much more extensive than I imagined. The history of catacombs needs to be understood to understand Paris.
Enjoyed the tour , we signed up for myself , wife and my 16 year old daughter . The lines outside were insanely long . Four others joined the tour with us . Nice small group lead is along the catacombs , and onto area most of the regular tours does not get to see . Recommended !
Avi was an excellent guide, full of infirmation. He is definately an asset to your tour!! I would try and request him if I were to do it again
Ferit was an excellent guide! Great information and wonderful sense of humor. The overall experience was great!
Our guide was very nice. However, he was extremely hard to understand. I would recommend using audio assistance with this particular guide. It may have really helped to understand him better. The tour I rate a 5. The tour guide I rate a 3.
This is a must, the history/stories that were told gave a lot of meaning to the tour vs. just walking around looking at the bones without knowing what really happened. Thank you for a great history lesson and a great time.
Caroline was a wonderful guide who loves what she does. She was friendly and knowledgeable. We found her commentary very interesting and enjoyed going to the spots that weren't on the regular tour. Also appreciated that she didn't let people not in our tour join us. Small group guided tour is the way to go. Caroline even led us to our metro stop after the tour.
Although it is a bit expensive having someone guide you through the catacombs while explaining the purpose and history helps you understand how and why they were created. The tour also gives you access to portions of the catacombs not allowed by non guided visitors. Our tour ended up being private as we were the only one signed up for that time. The tour lasts about 2.5 to 3 hours. Very interesting and informative great guide. Like I said so worth the money.
Amazing tour and amazing guide. Would highly recommend the smaller group setting! What a unique experience.
